One local teen is heading to Spain, thanks to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Southern Nevada. Efrain Jurardo-Montes, 18, was diagnosed with cancer nearly two years ago. His dad was working in North Dakota at the time, so he says the diagnosis was hard on his mom.
“It was kind of hard because my dad wasn’t here at the time,” said Efrain. “It was just my mom and really messed with me because it was hard watching my mom go through it.”
Efrain’s wish sponsor House Advantage and Make-A-Wish Southern Nevada held a surprise reveal on January 3 at Game Works at Town Square.
It was there where Efrain, a huge soccer fan, found out he and his family will be heading to Spain in two weeks to see his favorite soccer team Real Madrid play.
“I never thought I would actually go watch them play live or anything like that,” said Efrain. “It means a lot to me after all I’ve been through. It makes everything better. They help a lot.”
Efrain’s wish sponsor was also happy to be a part of the reveal and opportunity for Efrain and his family.
“Our team here at House Advantage are strong believers in the power of a wish,” said Jon Wolfe, President and CEO of House Advantage. “We could not be more excited to help make this wish come true for Efrain.”
